Their shell is a olive/green color with light patterning. The turtles body is light grey with stripes of cream/yellow. Enclosures To house an adult Yellow Belly Turtles a minimum tank of 3ft will be required, a 4-5ft tank for an adult pair. Half of the tank needs to be fill with water heated to 26-28C (78.8-82.4F). Provide two land areas, one with a basking area with a temperature of 30C (86F). Use a 5% UV light and provide a 12-14 hour cycle of day light. An aquarium filter will also be required, turtles can be messy. Feeding Yellow Belly Turtles feed on a range of foods including frozen blood worm, live insects, snails, fresh water fish, earthworms, Canadian pond weed and broad leaf water cress. Aquatic turtle diets are also available . Adult should be fed 2-4 times a week. All the food items from the previous feeding should have been eaten before the next feed. If not, feed less next time. |
